Home Remedies for Weight Loss in 2 Weeks: Lose Weight on Tummy & Hips

Let me tell you one thing: the internet is full of useless weight loss information. Lots of it will try to convince you to subscribe on diet fads and untested routines. If you’re looking for home remedies for weight loss in 2 weeks, you should be meticulous on the advice you’re going to take.

Here, I’ll only share with you natural and safe tips that you’re free to follow as you wish. Also, everything here is based on my experience as someone who’s in the process of losing weight (and gladly succeeding!). The discussed tips here may or may not work the same way with you or other people. It’s still important to consult a nutritionist or trainer to tailor your regimen based on your body type.

Losing weight at home

This is something I deemed impossible before. As someone who’s working at home, I’ve encountered all the distractions possible with my diet. Junk foods on the cabinet, leftovers on the fridge, and the fact that I don’t need to exert physical effort just to go to work.

Soon enough, my belly is starting to balloon with fats and my hips can no longer fit to my usual small-medium waistline. That’s the time when I realized I have to do something. I started contemplating my eating habits and exercise routines or the lack thereof.

And after a few months of doing home exercise routines and eating healthily, I can say that it’s starting to pay off. Even without gym equipment or a dedicated nutritionist, you can start burning those pounds.

Still, I want to recognize here that some of my advice may not work for those with special health conditions. In such a case, always seek the opinion of a medical professional.

What causes your weight gain?

Before you can start shedding off your excess weight, you first have to identify what caused it in the first place. Was it your poor diet? A specific health condition? Your lack of exercise? Without your knowledge, you unintentionally gain weight due to these factors. Once you identify the potential culprit, it’s time to take action.

If you’re taking medication, weight gain can be a possible side effect. It’s best to seek the help of your doctor in this case. But if your weight gain is periodic or continuous, it’s probably the cause of overeating and an unhealthy lifestyle. You need some home remedies to lose weight on tummy and hips.

Let’s take a look at some of the physical and external factors that may cause weight gain:

➕Fluid retention. I’m no stranger to this since most of my belly bloat was retained water. But in some people, fluid retention may happen in the limbs, hands, and even the hands and feet. This is also known as edema which should be treated with the help of a doctor.

➕Hormones. When a woman reaches the menopause stage, the product of estrogen would be lower, thus weight gain especially at the hips and belly.

➕Pregnancy. It’s what we call baby weight. As the fetus grows in the womb, a woman is likely to gain additional weight. Still, there are home remedies for weight loss in 2 weeks you can do.

➕Menstruation. Most women experience water retention and bloating during the time of the month when their menstruation is due. And since the estrogen and progesterone levels are also fluctuating, weight gain is possible.

➕Medications. Like what I mentioned earlier, medications like antidepressants and corticosteroids can induce unintentional weight gain.

With a two-week goal, I’d like to clarify that the results won’t be inches of fat right away. Of course, you’ll observe results but don’t expect it to be drastic in just a short period of time. This is just a realistic approach based on my own experience as well.

Personally, I started slow so as not to shock my mind over the thought of shedding weight. So to jumpstart your own two-week goal, here are some of my tips:

Start eating small meals

Whatever you are eating, don’t change it on the first day. Just start serving it in small portions. I used to have an affinity with rice and when I started my weight loss journey, I decided to slash the serving by half. That way, I won’t feel deprived.

Take small meals up to four times a day. Remember, we’re losing weight here, not trying to starve ourselves to death. Besides skipping meals will only increase your cravings which will end you up binge-eating before bedtime.

Incorporate protein to your diet

When losing weight, protein is your bosom friend. This food component is the building block of muscles, the fat-burning system of the body. With more muscles, there would be fewer fats. Also, your body burns calories whenever it digests and metabolizes protein. In fact, you can lose an additional 100 calories by simply adding more protein-rich food to your plate.

If your problem is binge-eating, protein will do the trick for you. A study from the University of Washington School of Medicine back in 2005 found that people eating a high-protein diet tend to eat 400 calories fewer each day.

You don’t have to devour red meat all the time just to pack up on protein. A protein-rich breakfast can already make a big difference. For example, you can eat eggs with cheese and spinach in the morning.

Cut the sugar

Back in the days, I’ll resort to a bar of Toblerone whenever I feel sleepy in the middle of work. And mind you, this guilty pleasure of mind is equivalent to 59 grams of sugar. That’s way beyond the recommended 25-38 grams per day.

So for a big switch, I removed all these unhealthy snacks out my fridge and pack it with healthy ones. I started to love kale chips, unsweetened dried apricots, and most of all, water. Aside from food, flavored juices are also sugar fountains. If you want a refreshing drink, make lemon water or boil three green tea bags and wait for it to cool. Add ice cubes and a little bit of honey and you’re golden. Pair it with home remedies for weight loss in 2 weeks for better results.

Consider taking supplements

I must admit that there are times when hunger can take the best of me. This is when I started taking glucomannan supplements. Glucomannan is a type of water-soluble fiber extracted from the konjac root. In short, it’s natural and safe as long as you don’t have any lingering health conditions.

It swells in the stomach which makes you feel full for a long time. This is very low in calories and it slows down the absorption of protein and fats in your gut. As for me, it didn’t piss my stomach but I want to acknowledge that it might be different for you.

Take just one capsule a day and only if you need to. A single capsule of glucomannan can turn a glass of water into a gel which probably gives you the idea of how potent this is.

Beware of refined carbs

There’s so much misconception about carbs that some of those who are trying to lose weight at home tend to be misled. Carbs aren’t really bad. In fact, it’s our bodies’ energy source. However, it turns sour if you consume too much.

Refined carbs are usually the culprit here. Since it’s refined, the fiber, protein, and other components of the food is stripped off. This leaves nothing but easy-to-digest carbs which will only deliver short-term satiation. When your sense of fullness fades, you’ll tend to eat more.

Some of the common refined carb sources are soda, white bread, pasta, sweets, breakfast cereals, and the likes.

Try intermittent fasting

One of the most effective home remedies to lose weight on tummy and hips for me is intermittent fasting. It’s when you follow an eating and non-eating window. I usually follow the 16:8 fasting method where you should refrain from eating anything for 16 hours (except water) and then resume eating within the 8-hour period.

To be fair, I can do this because of my convenient weekend schedule. I typically sleep most of the 16-hour non-eating window which is a guaranteed way to fight cravings. And then for the 8-hour eating allowance, I practice the same discipline of eating: small portions with healthy options.

Just because you’re allowed to eat within 8 hours doesn’t mean you’re going to splurge on anything. If you do so, you’ll defeat the purpose of fasting.

The goal here is to force the body to release stored energy (fats) as fuel. When this happens, your body sheds extra weight. Anyway, intermittent fasting isn’t supposed to be done every day. Once or twice a week would be enough as home remedies for weight loss in 2 weeks.

Here’s a sample eating schedule from fitness enthusiast Theo Brenner-Roach:

Exercise routines

I’d like to tell you that the two-week mark is possible without exercise but it would be a total lie. If you want to lose weight fast but in a healthy way, you have to move it! And since you’re at home, exercising would be convenient.

Let’s take this scenario as an example: you’re a busy mom of two and you barely have time to exercise. But you have a staircase, a wide yard, and a yoga mat. All these would be enough to practice my personal routine.

Note: Again, this is my own exercise drill. It may or may not work the same for all people. Also, I only do this routine at a maximum of 4 days a week for 15-20 minutes per session. As you know, it’s not about how long the workout is, it’s about how intense and effective it will be.

For my warm-up, I start with the usual stretching. Five minutes of jogging in place also works for me. As a rule of thumb, never hold a stretch for more than 15 seconds. Otherwise, you’ll pull a muscle or hurt your body.

To make it easy for you, here’s a video of Dr. Daniel Hass from Cleveland Clinic as he demonstrates easy and proper ways of doing your warm-up drill:

Using available resources

You don’t need fancy equipment just to do exercise at home. If you want a dose of cardio, you can walk or run back and forth on your stairs. Always practice caution when doing this to avoid tripping or falling.

If you have a wide yard, you can do brisk walking or jogging around. You can also do jump rope, yoga, and other simple activities you enjoy. What matters is you get to keep your heart rate up safely.

It’s awesome if you have an elliptical machine or cycle at home. These are guaranteed to burn you instant calories of as much as 400 per hour. Just make sure that you’re grinding on the right intensity and within the recommended period.

A 10-minute routine

Here, I’ll share with you the drill I’ve been doing lately. It’s an easy routine I’ve discovered on YouTube months ago. It includes simple cardio routines which are also a bit aerobic in nature. Almost everyone can do this at home, even those who are living in small apartments and barely have space to move.

Here’s the video from POPSUGAR Fitness that you can follow:

As you see, the routines are sets and reps. It’s a 10-minute drill but there are days when I stretch it to 20 minutes if I can and if it’s safe. Again, the key here is to keep the intensity and your heart rate up.

It’s important to perform warm-up drills first before diving into this routine. If you feel any pain while doing this workout, especially back pain, I encourage you to get checked first. You might have an undiagnosed condition.

These home remedies for weight loss in 2 weeks will definitely help you burn fats. Still, don’t expect that you’ll get rid of the whole belly and hip flab right away. Two weeks is just the start. If you do this consistently, you’ll see more positive results.
